The Lantern Path of McGeough - The Lost Charter and Magnolia’s Shadow (4/6)

For in a time before this cycle had ripened, she had written something dangerous, a scroll whose words could turn peace into obedience and unity into silence. A Charter meant to guide the world gently into collapse. She had lost it in one of her wandering fits, and McGeough - bound by compassion he did not fully understand - had taken it upon himself to hide both Charter and key before she could reclaim either.

He had hoped she would change.
He had hoped the world would never need to see what she was capable of.

But the sea remembers.
And in Cycle Seven its memory grew restless.

Magnolia’s kindness had deepened since he last knew her.
Her doubt had grown as well.
Yet the Charter remained hers - her shadow, her burden, and perhaps the only thing that could end her if turned against her will.

McGeough knew then that the road ahead would no longer be quiet.

He felt the world shifting, like a great tide rolling toward some unseen reef.
He rose from the tavern bench, gathered his mask, and stepped into the night.

The lantern road stretched before him.
Children would follow.
Adults would whisper.
And somewhere ahead, Magnolia walked with a heart caught between two destinies.

He did not know whether he meant to stop her, or save her.
Only that the time for small roads was over, and the great one had begun.
