Games and Kickstarter

Made in Unity Engine

Soluna Explorers (2024)

I created Soluna Explorers Mobile with Lance Janssen in 10 weeks, fulfilling my goal of designing a text-based adventure game. Using the artwork from my Kickstarter Board Game, Soluna Explorers, we successfully launched it on the App Store with Unity Ads monetization.

We launched a new IP from scratch, but we missed including a macro goal, causing players to lose interest quickly. We're working on an expansion to fix this.

Brave Eduardo (2018 - TBA)

Brave Eduardo is a 2D open-world RPG where you play as a teddy bear. I drew over 20,000 art assets and animated the Bear frame by frame. I’ve also written all the in-game dialogue, learning dramatic writing. I collaborated with talented musician Matt Fan Chiang and programmer Dhruv Gupta, and we attracted several publishers, ultimately partnering with Gamera Games.

We succeeded in creating our most polished project, but constant redesigns have extended development.

Soluna Explorers SRPG (2024)

After Soluna Explorers Mobile, I challenged myself to create a game entirely on my own with the help of AI. In just seven days, I released Soluna Explorers SRPG on the App Store.

I proved I could build a game solo, but I left much of its potential untapped. I may revisit it if it finds a small audience.

Mirablade (2018)

My first mobile game, Mirablade, combined crafting swords with wielding them in a multiplayer RPG. Players could even share swords with others!

We successfully launched a complex multiplayer game, but poor system setup such as messy Firebase data categories and obsolete codes left from previous iterations made future updates difficult, ultimately leading to the game's shutdown.

Never Ending Night (2014-2015)

My first project after college, Never Ending Night, was an exploration game that taught me the difficulty of crafting a strong narrative and the difficulty of setting scale for a first game.

We launched the game through Kickstarter, but poor design follow-through resulted in a disjointed final product.

Soluna Explorers (2024)

After Brave Eduardo, I launched the Soluna Explorers Kickstarter alone, drawing from my experience designing cards for Buado. Running a Meta ads campaign, I successfully funded the project.

I succeeded in funding the Kickstarter but overestimated the marketing workload, particularly for the European market, which I’ll address in future projects.

Buado (2021)

Buado is a card game I designed and drew 170+ card art for Brave Eduardo. While the card game didn’t make it into the video game, the card game became a fully funded Kickstarter, raising over $10,000 over a month.

The Kickstarter succeeded, but we over-ordered decks, leaving us with surplus stock. Many potential fans are unaware of its existence.

Never Ending Night (2015)

Never Ending Night was my first Kickstarter, where I realized the power of gaming as a cultural force. We completed the project and delivered it to backers.

We succeeded in funding the Kickstarter, but the page lacked visual appeal, prompting me to learn Photoshop for future campaigns.
